As a Trustee of the Lee Muthoga Foundation, I am filled with immense joy and gratitude following our remarkably successful football and volleyball tournament held on Sunday, 20 September 2026, in Othaya, Nyeri.
The tournament brought together young people through sport, creating a positive space for them to engage, develop teamwork and discipline, nurture their talents, build meaningful connections, and showcase their God-given potential.
For our young generation, initiatives such as these provide an opportunity to remain positively engaged while developing important values both on and off the field. Beyond competition, sport creates a platform for young people to learn from one another, build confidence, and participate meaningfully within their communities.
Empowering Youth Through Sport
Beyond the games, our mission remains clear: empowering rural youth, fostering intergenerational unity, and spreading the Gospel through sport, sportsmanship and community fellowship.
It was encouraging to see our young men and women participate with focus and purpose, surrounded by the support and encouragement of community members and elders. The event demonstrated how sport can bring people together while creating opportunities for young people to develop their talents and potential.
Building Stronger Communities
Investing in young people goes beyond providing opportunities in education and employment. It also means creating spaces where they can develop their abilities, build positive relationships, participate in constructive activities, and grow within a supportive community.
The tournament in Othaya was a reflection of this commitment. It was not only about the games, but also about fellowship, faith, community and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation.
I am grateful to every athlete, community member, volunteer, and partner who contributed to making this event a memorable celebration of sport, faith, fellowship, growth and unity.
Together, we continue to empower our youth, strengthen our communities, and build brighter futures.
